Pontiac Trans Am 1976 Description
Up for auction is a 1976 Pontiac Trans Am that has been used as an SCCA solo II weekend race car for over 15 years. It is equipped with a 455 Pontiac motor, 976 2 bolt main block with 1969 Ram air 4 heads, agle H-Beam rods, RW forged .040 over flat top pistons, 1.5-1 compression, owards hydraulic cam & lifters and springs, 30 [email protected] .485 lift, n a 110 lobe separation, alanced rotating assembly, ored, oned, ated, am brgs., nd freeze plugs, ooker headers, 00 CFM Quadrajet carb (stage 111). All above engine work was performed by Schexnayder Racing in June of 2006. Car has not been raced and has sat up for a few years but does still run drive and stop so I am sure it could use a little attention here and there but still runs very strong and has lots of torque. Included is a book of all the engine work and other work (roll cage, auges, eats, yno reports, etc) with well over $10,000 in receipts in just parts andlabor not including buying the car. This car is not street legal as it is now as there are no working headlights, ignals, tc in the car. Car does have some dents and scratches from racing but is still the original paint on the car according to the previous owner. Tires show some signs of cracking on side walls from age.
I believe they only built a little over 7,000 of these in 1976 with a 455 in them. I do have the original shaker with original 455 decal still on it and it will go with the car.
Car was originally equipped as follows before being converted to a race car. 1976 455 4 speed car, lose ratio Super T-10, emi metallic brake pads, ir conditioning, m/fm stereo with 8-track, ruise control, ally II wheels w/ trim rings, .23:1 limited slip diff.
Feel free to ask any questions or come inspect the car in person.
