Pontiac Bonneville 1960 Description
I have owned this beautiful Bonneville convertible for the past 33 years. It was purchased originally in Greenville, South Carolina when new, so it's been in this location all of its life. I bought it in 1983 when it had 123,095 miles on the odometer. It was in rough shape, so immediately I replaced the interior and trunk floors from inside, which are now very solid, even though I did not remove the rough flooring from the underside of the car - as seen in the photos. Ball joints were then replaced in the front end. Car handles great, steering is tight. I also replaced the rod and main bearings in the engine. Other than that, the drive train is original. Engine runs strong, doesn't smoke, and has good compression.4 speed Hydramatic transmission shifts excellent, but has some drips of fluid when sitting - it's over 50 years old! Car runs on center carburetor only (recently rebuilt) - outer carbs are inoperable, but can be made operable if desired (everything's there, including progressive linkage). Tri-power was more of a "novelty" to me. Car was repainted in Coronado Red, interior professionally restored, new weather stripping, most chrome (including bumpers) replated, new top, about the year 2000.Features include bucket seats, power steering, power brakes, power windows (even has power wing windows from a 1960 Cadillac), 8 lug wheels (center caps are from Cotton Owens 4 speed 1960 Catalina, which I owned for a brief time). Also has FM solid state radio behind original wonder bar radio face. Exhaust is through chrome plated 425A long exhaust manifolds and 2 1/2 inch pipes and dual "turbo" mufflers - sounds great! Recent complete tune up and fuel pump. Everything works, except dome light. New fuel tank sending unit, but reads low (reads 1/4 when really 1/2). Tires are in good condition, but old. Car is not perfect, but wins many trophies, as seen in the photos. Included are "owner's manual", 1960 "shop manual", "Hydramatic transmission manual", California Car Cover", and many extra parts. Sold at "no reserve".
