I purchased this 1967 Pontiac Lemans Convertible in 2008 from the second owner in Potomac, MD. He bought the car from the original owner in 1996. During his twelve years, he upgraded the stereo, replaced the convertible top in 2006 and used it as a weekend driver. The car had original paint, original interior, and ran well. It spent its entire life in a garage as evident by the minor surface quarter panel surface rust on the wheel wells.

This is my fourth restoration project and second Pontiac GTO/Lemans. My first GTO was a 1965 numbers matching tri-power 4 speed car. While I enjoyed restoring a numbers matching car, this 1967 Lemans was built to be a reliable, safe, and enjoyable driver for my family. However, I also wanted the infamous high torque/tire shredding Pontiac power for when I was alone, and this car accomplished both goals.

This particular car was chosen because of the remarkable condition of the frame, body, and interior. The three year restoration began almost immediately while not a trailer queen, the show-quality paint could be the foundation for a show-car. With a smooth comfortable ride and enough power/noise to excite any muscle car fan this car turns heads. Less than 2,500 miles have been added since restoration but it is driven at least once a month if only around the block. Original owner’s manual and significant restoration documentation will be provided including a 3” binder with hundreds of records, receipts, and other documentation.

The car is being sold because we don’t drive the car enough to warrant the garage space. Instead of family outings or car shows, our weekends are spent at my kid’s sporting events and travel. My hope is for the new owner to enjoy this car as much as we did and it brings years of happiness and joy.

Engine:

This engine was built to take advantage of the torque capabilities of the 455 while flattening the power band with a 428 crank. Pontiac racers have used this set-up for decades because it provides a smooth yet powerful transition through all the gears.
