If you’re like most of us gearheads, you go to countless car shows and take in hundreds of cool classics with the plan of building one head-turning custom that you can REALLY be proud of. Although, some of us prefer a real survivor truck that was born and lived in a good climate, was treated extremely well all its life. This truck lived a pampered life in a state (Kansas) that does not use road salt which would typically damage a classic truck. This truck has been pampered for 52 years and driven less than 49,200 miles!

This is not a project vehicle. This is a vehicle you can drive immediately as we have already treated it to a 100% vitals check and then responded to anything that it needed with mostly new old stock parts. This truck starts with ease, drives effortlessly, and can be driven cross country if you want some summer fun!

I found this untouched 1966 Ford F100 w/ its original 6 cylinder drive train in Kansas. It was built in Kansas and lived with the same owner for approximately 42 years. It was used to shuttle he and his wife ½ mile down the road to the farm each day. Parked in the barn when they arrived and parked in their garage at night for approximately 42 years. Unfortunately, the farmer passed away and as promised, the family sold it to a long-time owner and neighbor of the local Ford dealership. It spent 10 years at the dealership parked inside and driven only 1,000 miles. The owner of the dealership closed the business down so they decided to sell the truck to me, the current owner. Technically a 3-owner truck but 48,000 of the 49,200 miles were driven by the original owner. The 2nd title indicates mileage from 10+ years ago.

When I bought her, she arrived totally stock and original as she left the manufacturing facility; however, she needed some TLC. Most of the parts replaced on the truck were purchased from new old stock (NOS). I scoured the internet and ordered original parts where available. The following upgrades were made to keep her 100% original.

  • Shocks
  • Clutch
  • Exhaust system
  • Battery
  • Battery cables
  • Starter Cable
  • Brake light switch
  • Fuel tank sending unit
  • Shift collar
  • Master cylinder
  • All 4 wheel brake cylinders
  • Original radiator re-core
  • Radiator flush
  • Radiator hoses that took 1 month to locate
  • New Rear bumper and license plate lights
  • Oil and transmission fluid flush and change
  • Oil filter
  • Approximately $4,750 spent in the last 3 months

VIN # F10AK865430 DECODED:

  • 129" wheelbase
  • 8 = Springtime Yellow
  • F100 = F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR
  • M81: M = Medium Beige crush vinyl and medium beige cody pattern woven / 81 = 81A Standard Cab

BODYWORK/TRIM

  • Some surface rust but ZERO rot.
  • Original solid floors with minor surface rust spots
  • Cab mounts are where these trucks tend to rot and they are 100% spotless
  • 129” Wheelbase
  • Minor dings in the original chrome
  • Minor dings and dents and paint wear considering its 52 year age
  • All original F100 badges
  • Original Springtime yellow w/ Wimbledon White bumpers and grille
  • Passengers side quarter appears to have had minor dent at one time and was repaired well
  • Frame and body are laser straight. This truck looks 100% straight and drives 100% straight. My local classic vehicle body shop was shocked when I first brought the truck to them at how straight it is, how the doors shut effortlessly, and how it survived without ever having a non stock part added to it.
  • Doors shut and open effortlessly
  • Original weather stripping
  • All original glass
  • Front windshield is cracked which adds to the patina so I did not replace

6 Cylinder 240, 129 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

New clutch with less than 100 miles on it.

Prior to its aforementioned tuning, this fun-loving Ford sports its original 6-cylinder 240 and drivetrain. The block was painted in place about 6 months ago by the Ford dealer / previous owner. This truck starts cold with ease and runs down the highway like it was brand new. Idles beautifully and you can feel confident driving it back to your garage on the highway.

DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION

As you can probably tell most of the truck’s latest freshening, completed by Cruisers of Delray Beach, FL, involved replacing any worn parts. The work was minimal as that proven drivetrain rolls on Fords famous Twin I Beam suspension. The original suspension has never been augmented and it drives beautifully. Braking is equally original, with a new master cylinder and wheel cylinders that stop this truck with ease. We followed that up with a full brake system bleed. The new cylinders control the original front drums and rear drums. And power meets the pavement through upgraded 15” painted steel wheels. The original split rims, what we believe to be the original tires, and original hubcaps are included. Even have the original spare!

INTERIOR

Inside the truck, a 100% stock cockpit painted in its original springtime yellow and Wimbledon white paint. Front and center, a smooth near flawless dash pad and original gauges in the instrument panel. Opposite that dash, you will find the original bench seat with its original upholstery with minor split in the drivers area and minor wear in one or two other expected areas. At the bottom of those seats, is an authentic Ford rubber mat and again, original firewall insulator. Look up and you will find the original mirror, original headliner that is mint, and original visors. Absolutely a time warp inside. The original interior is what tells you this is a true 49,000 mile survivor!
