Ford Model A 1931 Description
For sale in our Chicago showroom is a unique 1931 Ford Model A. Henry Ford was without a doubt a pioneer in auto manufacturing and putting America on the road with his ingenious Model T. After it's introduction in 1909 the masses were soon able to enjoy motoring that was limited to the very rich. After a run that lasted until 1927 the basic and cheap engineering was about ready to be overtaken by competitors like Chevrolet and Dodge that delivered a more comfortable and easier to drive vehicle. At the resistance of the genius himself the Model A was born and introduced America to an affordable and easy to drive vehicle with styling and comfort in mind.
This Model A is very special. With a wide array of body options beginning in 1928 the most fun was the roadster with an open top and rumble seat but take a closer look and you will see some subtle differences in this open top car. The body of this classic is actually custom made and resembles a 2-door sedan which allows for more driver comfort and an additional storage area behind the front seats. In keeping with the historic presence of a Model A and utilizing the reliable and simple engineering an inline 4cylinder was kept with all of the fun of a push-pedal starter and adjustable ignition timing while being upgraded to an alternator charging system. The dash and gauges are period correct and functioning including the speedometer and fuel gauge.
The exterior of this car is lavished will all of the additional luxuries available at the time including Ford spoke wheels with chrome caps, wide whitewall tires, wing windows, dual side mounts, adjustable vented hood doors, dual trumpet horns and rear lights made by Duolamp and a driver controlled spot light. As you glance at the back be sure to take notice of the wood luggage rack and a real "trunk" that is believed to be from a Dusenberg. The term "trunk" in modern cars came from people actually strapping a steamer trunk on the back of a vehicle like this for storage but this beauty was made by the Taylor corporation specifically for cars. This beauty is adorned with gold pinstriping and the classic Art Deco styling
