Dodge Coronet 1965 Description

History of the Vehicle: For sale locally (Or I can assist with shipping, t buyers expense) is this extremely clean, ust free, ody filler free 1965 Coronet 500 Hardtop. These cars are very uncommon nowadays, can't say I've ever seen another one in person or at a car show. This car was a California car most of it life, ence a rust free body; I purchased it in late 2014 with plans to make a nostalgia Super Stock cruiser/occasional strip car. The man I purchased it from bought it from a custom shop in California. I was stationed in Germany and now the car sits in a climate controlled storage facility under the care of my brother/power of attorney. So, made the decision to sell the car instead of letting it sit, nd having to pay storage fees for the next three years.
Condition/Specifications: This car is very clean and 100% complete, t still has all the original parts that it came with, ith exception to the factory spare and jack. As previously mentioned, t is a great foundation for creating a very nice cruiser/weekend warrior.
Paint/Body: The paint is PPG Midnight black (Base/clear), have not run the codes on the data plate so I have no idea if this is a factory black car. But I would assume that it was. I would give the paint a strong 7 or 8 out of 10, t has a few spots here an there where you can see sanding swirl marks, here they missed a few spots during final wet sand of the primer. These blemishes are very hard to notice unless you know exactly where they are and are down low looking at the right angle. The car appears to have been fully disassembled during the prep and paint process. This is a great looking car and you can drive it without having to worry about messing up a 5-7k dollar paint job. The body is completely straight, ll spot welds are clearly visible, o filler, will include some pics of the rocker panels which are in magnificent condition, s well as every other area of the body. Included in the sale is a bolt-on Sled City fiberglass 65 Hemi Hood scoop, hich was the type of scoop on the 65 A990 Hemi Coronets of the period. The scoop is the highest quality on the market, nd I had to wait 5 months for this one because they are back ordered. The scoop is ready to be pained and in stalled, ery high quality.
Drive Train: The engine and transmission is a 440 c.i. HP/727 Torqflite out of a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. The engine has been professionally overhauled and put back to near '70 R/T 440 specs. The engine is barley broken in, would say it has around 100 miles on it since rebuild. The block is over bored .030, ringing the total displacement t 446 c.i. There is a complete MSD ignition system, .e. billet distributor, DI box. The headers are long tube with 3" collectors, nd have been coated in an unknown thermo barrier, hey are not ceramic coated but are very presentable. The trans is a 727, hich has been rebuilt professionally, ith a shift kit. The trans shifts very hard and will chirp the tires from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, he torqe converter is stock spec as far as I know. The car has a B&M Ratchet shifter, hich is for a 4 speed auto instead of a 3 speed auto (like the 727), had planned on replacing it with the right shifter. Included is a Mopar performance M-1 intake manifold, t currently has a first gen Edelbrock Performer intake. The rear diff is a 489 Posi-track (3.55:1) unit it is tight and working correctly. I was told by the gentleman that I purchased the car from, hat it has Mopar Performance Super stock rear springs.
Brakes:Manual brakes drum all the way around, s well as manual steering. Wilwood sells a complete disc up grade for this car for around $1700, ou can find the kit on eBay.
Interior: The interior is mostly new or refurbished items. The seats are white leather all new upholstery and padding, he carpet is a new black replacement. I believe the door panels are the original, ut they were re-dyed in a not factory original config, had planned on buying a new set and replacing these, ut they are in very good condition as you can see in the pics. The headliner is also white, n great condition, nd has no rips or stains. All windows and locks work properly and are tight. All weather stripping on the entire car was replaced with new items. The factory AM radio was completely removed, owever I found an original working AM radio for a 65 Coronet which is included along with quite a few other trim pieces that I have been collecting in preparation of polishing up the interior back to factory original spec. Notable Interior flaws: The dash was painted a satin black instead of the factory gloss/ body color. The dash bezel was painted a silver chrome color, have another dash bezel that I was going to send off for restoration to have it re--vacuum chromed and professionally painted (Cost about $200 to have some one professionally restore just the trim piece but worth it).
Overview: All-in-all, his car is a great starting point for someone who wants to be able to drive the car and enjoy it, hile they do all of the little weekend projects and polishing up and detailing the small items I've mentioned. I've tried to list everything accurately and entirely, ut do not hesitate to field any questions that you might have. Also, encourage you to come and inspect the car yourself, ou will not be disappointed. This is not a show car but it is very clean and has the potential to be an even better car that it currently is with minimal work and money. I am selling because I am interested in buying or trading for a 1970 lemans or GTO clone. If you need to arrange to look at the car please call me or my brother Matt (Power of Attorney) at 423-284-5892 or at [email protected].
Notes: Also, he tires and wheels shown in the pictures have been replaced with new correct steel wheels, roffessionally powder coated gloss black and outfitted with the correct 10" Dodge dog dishes. New Coker BFG Silver Towns up front and American Racer R60s out back. The car has a more aggressive (Super stock look) now than in the picks. I will try to get some more pick of the new wheels and tires installed added to this listing. Also, can provide a video of the car, nd driving. The are no leans against this car I own it outright, nd it has a clear title. So, f you win the purchase process will be smooth and easy.
