Up for sale we have a 1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. In 1970 Dodge set out on getting in the SCCA Trans America series. To meet these standards, they were required to make a certain amount available to the public. This led to 2,400 of the most radical small blocks to hit the road. Even more rare than the AAR Cuda, the T/A Challenger is easily one of the most sought after muscle cars on the market today. The one we have for you was owned by the same person since 1985. It's done in the factory Green Go paint scheme with only one repaint and features the Matching Numbers Engine. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Dodge, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the Challenger. To go along with the awesome drivetrain these T/A's have a killer set of eyes. Awesome body lines are complemented by iconic novelties like the duck wing spoiler and the fiberglass hood. Down the sides of this T/A are straight with great fit of all the panels. We were told this car has had only 1 repaint, and all the metal tells the same story. It was done in the factory Green Go Paint that's accented by the Black Trans Am Stripes. The paint shows very well with a deep rich shine, and looks great in the jams and trunk. Also, it has the dual chrome sport mirrors and the factory side exit exhaust. To finish off the look it's sitting on a set of Factory Rallye Wheels with the BF Goodrich White Letter Tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of the T/A. On the inside, it's done Black which is also the factory colors. This car of course is a bucket seat car and it has the console with the wood grain inlay in it to match the door panels. The door panels of a 70 Challenger set a new standard for interior of the pony cars. I guess you could say they opened the door to a new way of design. Now when you sit down in the seat you'll notice this Challenger has the Wood Grain steering wheel. Also, the dash all looks correct with the Speedo and Gas gauge working properly.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of the Dodge. Under the hood of this '70 you'll see the Matching Numbers 340 Engine. It's set up with the Six Pack Edelbrock Intake and the factory style Holley Carbs. The breather and valve covers are painted orange to match the block. The power is put to the ground through the 727 TorqueFlite Trans and the Sure Grip 8 " Rear End. For sound the exhaust flows through the stock style manifolds with the side exist exhaust correct style mufflers. Also, this T/A is set up with Power Brakes that has Disc on the front and Drum out back along with Power Steering. When you look under this Challenger it has all the factory floor pans that still have the factory under coating on them.
This is a gorgeous example of the Iconic Muscle Cars we all love. If we can help you in any way with questions or a specific picture, you can call our office at (865)988-8088. Or feel free to call Daniel at (423) 807 0600, Devvin at (865) 256 2366, or you can e-mail us at [email protected].
