Chevrolet Chevelle 1969 Description

1969 SS396 CHEVELLE FUEL INJECTED REAL SUPER SPORT
This is a very nice 1969 Monaco / Hugger Orange SS 396 Chevelle with the 72 paint code that lets you know It is a real Super Sport car. It's has a 396 Big Block that runs great with lots of power and the previous owner said was built to the factory 375 HP specs. This is not the original engine the car was born with. It has a Muncie 4 speed with a 12 bolt posi rear end. I'm not sure what the rear end gear ratio is, but would guess around 3.55. It has power brakes with front disk, power steering, tubular control arms with adjustable coil overs on the front. This helps update the cars handling to make it closer to a modern car and will allow you to adjust the front ride height. We added a F.A.S.T. EZ EFI 2.0 fuel injection system that really makes driving an old Hot Rod lots of fun without the worry of having to tune the carburetor. This system is self tuning and the computer learns as you drive and it also comes with a easy to use touch screen that I have mounted on the windshield. You can look at it in the pictures. We put in a new gas tank with a Aero Motive in tank fuel pump. The body is in excellent condition with no rust. There is one paint chip on the rear passengers quarter panel above the tail light that is visible in the pictures. There is also some sanding marks in the upper rear windshield also in the pictures. The speedometer is the only thing that is not currently working. I have a new speedometer cable, hopefully that will fix the problem. Thanks for looking and bidding. If you are looking for a genuine 1969 Chevelle SS and don't want to be fooled by SS details installed on a regular Chevelle, identify it by matching different ID numbers. The SS (Super Sport) option package consisted of special trim options and a specific engine set-up. As these options can be counterfeited, cross-referencing the engine ID number, the trim tag and various visuals is necessary to identify the real thing. Some numbers can be decoded immediately, while others need to be checked against a Chevrolet part number listing.
  • Identify the Chevelle by using visual methods. According to Team Chevelle, the only colors available in 1969 for the Chevelle SS are "Monaco Orange" (code 72) and "Daytona Yellow" (code 73). These codes must appear on the trim or "cowl" tag to be genuine.

  • Locate the trim (cowl) tag located on the firewall directly behind the brake master cylinder. This tag will give you the trim, or styling specifics of the vehicle. A genuine 1969 SS Chevelle will have "69" in the top left corner for the year and next to the paint heading, either code "72 or "73."
